And now the other way around: the second edition of the “Rothaus Bike Giro Hochschwarzwald”, former known as “VAUDE Trans Schwarzwald”, starts in 2018 from the highest Black Forest peak and ends in Rothaus. Professional and non-professional mountain bikers come in a completely new enjoyment of the partially known routes.
The starting point of the prologue on 16h of August 2018 is the Feldberg. The winner of the first stage is determined in the fight against the clock on a nearly ten-kilometer course with 390 vertical meters “The challenge of the day will certainly be the rise up to the Herzogenhorn,” says mountain pro rider Simon “Stiebi” Stiebjahn, now the one and only course director of the “Rothaus Bike Giro Hochschwarzwald”. Of course, the already legendary ski bridge with its ramp of 37 percent will not be missing.
The second stage takes the riders through the depths and heights of the Black Forest around the Feldberg. “The approximately 60 kilometers (Feldberg-Feldberg) will be the scenic highlight of this year’s event,” says the organizing team of Sauser Event GmbH. A total of 1500 vertical meters are on the program.
All riders should regenerate well overnight, because on the third day follows the queens stage (Rothaus – Rothaus) with 2500 meters altitude and start and finish in Grafenhausen. Although the third section starts slowly, the challenging sections follow on foot. From the middle of the race, the trail lovers will finally get their money’s worth. The highlight of the 75 kilometers is certainly the trail around Titisee-Neustadt. On this section alone, the riders thunder over trails for more than ten kilometers through the Black Forest.
The final stage (Rothaus – Rothaus) is almost relaxed. The 19th of August 2018 will be a day to enjoy. “On fast forest roads, the last kilometers of the Rothaus Bike Giro Hochschwarzwald 2018 will hopefully be completed quickly”, Stiebi describes the final day with its 60 kilometers and 1600 vertical meters. At the end, the well-deserved Rothaus beer is already waiting for every participant and finisher, as this time the goal is for a total distance of about 204 kilometers and 6,000 vertical meters on the grounds of the famous Rothaus brewery.
